This year, the Black Girl’s Guide to Surviving Menopause plans to deepen our intergenerational narrative shift work by co-creating peer learning exchanges to normalize the menopause experience of Black people.

The Stops

We identified each of these locations because of their strong diasporic communities and our partners on the ground. In addition to the events we co-host, we are documenting our travel and how each partnering organization works to normalize menopause for Black and Queer communities.

The Experiences

Peer Learning Dinner

We’re inviting Black women, femmes, trans, nonbinary and genderqueer artists, creatives, activists, and menopause and reproductive justice advocates to share dinner and discuss what is means to them, personally/professionally, to live and work at the intersection of their multiple identities and aging.

What does it look like to be invested in? What are they still learning? How are they being supported? What are some boundaries or challenges? How can we better support Black creatives, artists, advocates, activists, etc., no matter their age?

Orisii Intergenerational Dinner

We are hosting a small curated dinner where invitees — prioritizing Black women, women identified, and gender-expansive people,  are asked to bring a “plus one” to engage in a dinner conversation about midlife, menopause, bodily autonomy, body sovereignty, pleasure, and healing.

Each event will be co-hosted by BGG2SM and our community partner. Join our Patreon to get exclusive access to photos and videos from these events!
